How to Get to Oryukdo Skywalk: Bus Routes from Busan and Haeundae

The easiest way to get to Oryukdo Skywalk is Bus 27 from Busan Station or buses 24, 27, or 131 after reaching southern Busan. From Haeundae, taking Metro Line 2 to Kyungsung University–Pukyong National University Station and transferring to a bus is usually more predictable than staying on a cross-city bus.

There is no subway station at Oryukdo. Save the stop Oryukdo SK View Back Gate (오륙도SK뷰후문) and check the live route before boarding. The glass skywalk may close in strong wind, rain, or unsafe conditions even when the surrounding park remains open.

From Busan Station

Bus 27 is the simplest one-seat public route when its current stop and timing are convenient. Board in the direction of Oryukdo and get off near the terminal stop at 오륙도SK뷰후문. The final walk to the visitor area is short but includes slopes.

Do not rely on a stop number from an old article because downtown boarding points can move with road work. Search from “Busan Station” to the Korean destination on your travel day.

From Haeundae or Gwangalli

Use Metro Line 2 to Kyungsung University–Pukyong National University Station (경성대·부경대역), then transfer to a live route such as bus 24, 27, or 131. Official Busan sources list these services for the Oryukdo area, but not every route uses the same nearby stop.

This metro-plus-bus method protects you from much of the east-west road congestion. Set up Naver Map or KakaoMap using my Korea travel apps guide.

What to expect after arrival

Walk from the apartment-area stop toward Oryukdo Sunrise Park and the coastal information center. The skywalk itself is a short glass platform; the panoramic coastal setting is the main reason to visit. Shoe covers may be required on the glass.

Entry has traditionally been free, but opening hours and weather closures change. Never cross a barrier when the platform is closed. The exposed cliff receives stronger wind than central Busan.

Best time to go

Morning gives clearer light and fewer tour groups. Late afternoon can be attractive, but do not start the coastal trail near sunset unless you have enough daylight. Spring flowers at Sunrise Park and clear autumn days are especially popular.

Check both precipitation and wind. A dry forecast does not guarantee that the glass platform will open. In summer, carry water because shade is limited around the viewpoint.

Can you combine Oryukdo with Igidae Coastal Trail?

Yes. Oryukdo is a logical starting point for walking north through the Igidae coastal section. A focused route to an intermediate exit can take roughly 1.5–3 hours depending on the chosen endpoint, pace, and photo stops.

Wear hiking shoes, not beach sandals. The trail includes stairs, uneven surfaces, and exposed sections. Download the route before starting and do not enter during severe weather or after dark.

A realistic half-day itinerary

  • 9:00 a.m.: leave central Busan or Haeundae.
  • 10:00–11:00 a.m.: skywalk, Sunrise Park, and information center.
  • 11:00 a.m.–1:30 p.m.: optional Igidae coastal walk.
  • After 1:30 p.m.: exit toward Yongho-dong and take a bus or taxi for lunch.

If you do not want to hike, spend about an hour at the viewpoint and return by the same bus corridor. Do not add the entire Igidae trail accidentally just because a sign points toward it.

Return transport

Check the return stop and direction before walking away from the arrival point. Buses leaving the terminal area may line up on different sides or bays. Use the destination toward Kyungsung–Pukyong, Seomyeon, or Busan Station rather than trusting the route number alone.

If you finish the Igidae trail elsewhere, do not navigate back to Oryukdo automatically. Search from your actual trail exit to the next destination.

What to combine nearby

Gwangalli and the Kyungsung University area work well after the walk. Haedong Yonggungsa is on the opposite side of the city and should not be paired unless you accept a long transit day. See my Haeundae to Haedong Yonggungsa guide.

For an easy history route on another day, try the Busan to Gimhae light-rail itinerary.

Common mistakes

  • Searching for an Oryukdo subway station.
  • Boarding the correct bus number in the wrong direction.
  • Assuming the glass platform opens in strong wind.
  • Starting Igidae in sandals or near sunset.
  • Saving the skywalk pin but not the bus stop.
  • Pairing Oryukdo with distant east-Busan attractions.
